Workshops
Curtain Up! offers specialized theatre arts workshops for children from pre-school through high school. We can create custom-made workshops to fit your unique educational needs!
Creating A Character
This workshop includes music, improvisation and theatre games, with
special emphasis on creating your own character -- someone completely
different from who you are. Using exercises from Stanislavsky to Viola
Spolin to outright silliness, each student will have a chance to create
and perform their very own character, complete with costumes, props and
the necessary wigs. (Month long. Intensive weekend workshop available.)
Improvise This!
This is a fun and challenging improvisational workshop designed for
beginning actors. Drawing on her experience as a member of the
"Groundling Improvisational Troupe" in Los Angleles, Ms. Green and
company teach students many of the basic techniques of improvisation.
The class will employ a variety of improvisational techniques in order
to develop the actor's spontaneity and creative impulses. Workshop ends
with performance of monologues and improvisational scenes.
Acting Basics
An acting class designed for student who is new to the craft of acting.
Using both traditional and non-traditional theatre games and
improvisational exercises, the focus of this class is on achieving
spontaneity and emotional honesty while onstage. Scene work from
writers such as Mamet, Shepard and Shakespeare. Students will each
perform in at least one three to five minute scene.
